Counselling Training
Hello,
It’s Pat here. I’m married to a lovely lively lady (Pheap’s awesome) and we have 2 energetic boys (they’re also awesome). We both have been volunteers with YWAM serving in Cambodia together for the last 10 years.
I’ve seen people who are needed, experienced and great at what they do, struggling with feeling unseen and misunderstood. Missionaries missing key pieces to be resilient in the field. People in general, who are burdened and in need of more peace.
I wonder if others knew how to hear them out better, if people had someone to share tools and knowledge with them so they can be supported towards a clearer path forward, would more missionaries stay in the field to serve with joy? Would more people in general have greater peace and courage?
For many years now God has put me in places where people share with me from their heart. People from all walks of life, going through all sorts of experiences working through things from personal deep heart burdens to leadership decisions. From strangers to people very close. In Australia and in Cambodia.
These times are significant so I want to honor the Lord’s trust in me with them.
I have gifts for mercy but I’m realizing that’s not enough. To better help these people I need tools and knowledge from people who are experienced.
The Opportunity
Following 2 Tim 2:15 I should study so I can be better at handling the word with truth in application to people’s journeys. There’s an opportunity this September with the University of the Nations in Siem Reap for a Christian counselling school. This training will equip me with tools and knowledge to help people stay resilient in ministry and in their lives, I want to go for it.
I don’t expect to solve people’s problems or be their savior, only Jesus can do that, but with training I could be better at hearing people out, helping people feel valued at their low points, and coaching & guiding them towards hope and peace. That would be a blessing and a purpose worth pursuing.
To Make it Possible
To participate I need to raise money for the school fee and other expenses while studying.
By helping me attend you’ll also be helping many other missionaries, leaders and struggling individuals that I serve in the years ahead.
Total school fee: $2000 USD
Travel and living expenses: $1200 (covers transport and periodic visits with my family while away in Siem Reap)
Total: $3200 USD
Any amount you give, a little, $25, $100 or $500 will directly help get me there and be trained.
If you’re not able to give financially, your prayers for our family for this season means a lot to us.
Thanks for standing with us and making this possible.
